Al Ward is currently a Security Consultant. He was also a marine, a police officer/detective and a coast guard reserve officer before coming to Montana.  I was a crime prevention detective for the city of Bellevue, WA for 17 years.  I currently provide security consulting and crime prevention training as a private consultant.  I was involved in crime prevention and benefits outreach while working with AARP at the Regional and then the state level. Upon moving to Montana in 2001, I began working on the states seven Indian reservations.  As Associate State Director for Community Outreach I developed programs in Browning beginning in 2001.  This led to increased outreach to other reservations with many state programs and programs from the AARP Foundation.  My focus has been consumer protection, health care reform and low income outreach.

In 2006, Al was honored by the Blackfeet Nation and its Chief, Earl Old Person by receiving an eagle feather and the Indian Name IKinapih MisKahtsip which means Kind Heart.  In 2010 he again received an eagle feather from Chief Earl Old Person. He is currently Treasurer of the Montana Crime Prevention Council, a member of the Montana Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging, and a past president of the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners and the Washington State Crime Prevention Association. He has been a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), which is a Board Certification, in Security Management from the American Society of Industrial Security since 1981 and has a BA in Political Science from the University of Washington and an MA in Adult Education from Seattle University. He was the recipient of the Crime Prevention Practitioner of the year award from the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washington State Crime Prevention Association.
