Standing Rules
We will treat each other with respect. We will respect each other’s opinions. We will be on time for meetings and will notify the Montana Crime Prevention Association Secretary if unable to attend a meeting We commit that if a Council Member misses two or more formally announced meetings in a 12-month period their status with the Council will be subject to review. We will treat all members as equals. We shall take responsibility for our personal integrity. We will maintain confidentiality. We promise to follow through on our commitments. We will notify the President, Vice President, or Secretary if we are unable to fulfill our commitment. We will require that the President maintains the focus of the group during meetings. We will keep cell phones on vibrate during meetings. Emergency calls will be answered outside the meeting room. We will commit to publicly support the Vision and Mission statements of the Montana Crime Prevention Association. We will, as a committee, remain flexible on meeting locations. Guiding Prinicples We commit to fostering professional and effective working relationships and communication among public/private law enforcement agencies, community crime prevention organizations, Indian Reservations and the general public. We provide a central resource from which all crime prevention organizations can obtain crime prevention information, guidance, support, referrals, materials, technical assistance and audio-visual resources. We provide standards for program implementation and legislation. We commit to providing meetings and education for crime prevention officers, specialists and organizations. We recognize that preventing crime is everyone’s business. We promote citizen use of effective crime prevention methods. We provide resources for information about crime prevention activities, programs, projects and techniques between participating agencies and groups. We commit to encouraging citizen and community involvement in the reduction of crime and criminal activity. We commit to collaborate with crime prevention consumers to create new approaches to prevent victimization. We provide an effective means of determining and expressing the collective view of professional crime prevention organizations. We inform all elected officials, legislative bodies, and all criminal justice personnel of current crime prevention trends and techniques necessary for reducing crime. We commit to honest, fair, and apolitical collaboration. We commit to leadership that is respectful, accessible, open-minded, forward looking and willing to embrace effective change. We commit that our behavior will reflect integrity and professionalism that is ethical and accountable to all. We are committed to making decisions that reflect good stewardship of funds and provide sustainable programs. We commit to encouraging innovative ideas and programs. |
